About the Subcabinet

In June 2015, Gov. Inslee formed a Subcabinet on Military Downsizing to address possible reductions in military force in the state. The US military is reducing and realigning their forces throughout the country after deep funding cuts and a reduction in deployments after more than a decade of war. The Subcabinet will create a coordinated strategic plan to respond to and mitigate potential military reduction impacts on local communities in Washington. They will submit a draft plan to Gov. Inslee on July 17, 2015.

The subcabinet is made up of 11 agencies which are broken into four workgroups: Advisory, Workforce Development, Community Partners and Social Services, and Economic Development & Recovery. The workgroups have been meeting regularly since June 17, 2015. Participating state agencies include: the Dept. of Commerce, Employment Security Dept., Dept. of Social and Health Services, Office of Financial Management, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Dept. of Revenue, Dept. of Financial Institutions, State Board for Community & Technical Colleges, Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, Dept. of Labor & Industries and the Military Dept.
